2 Killed As Road Collapses In Landslide
Two people were killed after they plunged down a collapsed section of Jalan Marak Parak-Ranau, near Kota Marudu in Sabah’s interior this morning.
The two, a motorcyclist and the pillion rider, had fallen into the ravine before they were covered by further landslips along the relatively new road.
District police chief Superintendent Mohd Izaan Abdullah said they were alerted of the incident at 7.30am by the district Fire and Rescue Department.
The first body was recovered at 8.38am while the second at 9.28am.
The victims were identified as Jaimin Bien and Edmon James, aged 46 and 22.
It was believed the landslip occurred due to continuous rainfall in the area over the last two days.
