At the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court, a director of a property company, claimed trial to abetment by conspiracy, to commit criminal breach of trust, involving a land purchase deposit amounting to over RM 10 million.
85- year- old Cheah Theam Kheng, a director of of City Centre Sdn Bhd was accused of abetting a lawyer to commit CBT amounting to RM 10.35 million.
The money was a deposit paid from Beyond Hallmark Sdn Bhd to Cheah over a land acquisition deal with City Centre Sdn Bhd.
He allegedly committed the offence at the office of Messr Megat Najmuddin Leong & Co, Solicitors and Advocates in Jalan Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur between December 11th 2014 and January 16 2015.
The charge under 109 of the Penal Code read together with Section 490 of the same code provides a jail up to 20 years and whipping if convicted.
Judge Mat Ghani Abdullah allowed bail at RM 30,000 and set October 17th for remention.
