Fire & Rescue Dep’t Gears Up For Second Wave
12,000 Fire and Rescue Department, JBPM, personnel are on standby around the clock in anticipation of the second wave of floods that is expected to hit Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak soon.
Its director-general, Datuk Seri Wan Mohd Nor Ibrahim said his department are checking all the equipments that will be used besides reviewing it’s natural disaster Standard Operating Procedures, SOP, from time to time.
He urged those living in flood-prone areas to pack their important documents, valuables and get ready to move when asked to do so.
They should not panic as the fire personnel are already on high alert and ready to assist flood victims.
In its latest statement, the Meteorological Department said that the monsoon season is expected to bring heavy rain for the east coast of peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak.
It said that heavy downpours are predicted in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Johor in November and December.
