Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak said that since assuming the Prime Minister’s post, he had never neglected Langkawi and had resolved many longstanding issues on the island that were not addressed by the previous leader.
He cited the example of the completon of a submarine cable to Pulau Tuba which had helped to ensure smoother electricity supply to the residents.
He said this in his speech during a gathering with the people at Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre.
The Prime Minister also assured the people in Langkawi that the island would continue to enjoy development under the BN government, through initiatives such as the Langkawi Tourism Blueprint 2.0 and the RM1.3 billion allocation for infrastructure projects announced earlier.

In one of my walkabouts, the locals had also highlighted how the price of RON95 fuel sold on Pulau Tuba was more expensive compared to other places and I have instructed the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin to take immediate action. Now the people on Pulau Tuba are able to purchase fuel at the same price as in Pulau Langkawi.)
