Trigana Air Slides-Off Airport Runway
A Trigana Air Boeing 737 cargo plane carrying over 14 tonnes of Pertamina fuel slid on the runway of Wamena’s airport on Tuesday as its landing gear failed upon landing.
No casualties, however, were reported.
Trigana Air Operation Director, Benny Sumaryanto said the plane departed from Sentani Airport and landed in Wamena at 7.30 am local time without its rear landing gear.
Benny added that the Boeing skidded off with three crewmen inside.
The three suffered minor injuries and were receiving treatment at the town’s hospital.
The National Committee for Transportation Safety is currently investigating the incident.
The airport was temporarily closed to remove the plane’s fuselage and repair damage done on the tarmac.
